Tianjin to Build International Consumption Center City

Tianjin on Oct. 11 unveiled a plan to develop itself into an international consumption center city. This decision plays an important role in establishing a new development pattern and embarking on the new journey of building Tianjin into a socialist modern metropolis.

In July, the State Council approved that Shanghai, Beijing, Guangzhou, Tianjin and Chongqing will take the lead in developing international consumption center cities.

The plan clarified the main goal and the key tasks of building an international consumption center city. During the 14th Five-Year Plan period(2021-25), Tianjin will cultivate commercial landmarks and focus on the upgrading of the consumer market. It will create a unique and charming business card of Tianjin while enhancing the concentration of international brands.

Efforts will be made to create an international level consumption environment and a convenient consumption system environment, improving consumer satisfaction, accessibility and comfort. The city will also promote interconnected regional development to develop a new pattern of consumption.

Districts of Tianjin will use their advantages to improve the quality of their commercial areas, increase their influence, and help the city’s construction of an international consumption center city.
