Sinopec’s Project Cluster Launched in Nangang

On May 19, the launching ceremony of Sinopec Tianjin Nangang High-end New Materials Project Cluster was held in Nangang Industrial Zone. With a total investment of 60.3 billion yuan, it includes 11 mega projects such as a 1.2-million-ton ethylene project in Nangang, a pilot base of Beijing Research Institute of Chemical Industry(BRICI), LNG expansion, photovoltaic new energy, etc.

Nangang Industrial Zone is a world-class chemical new material base and petrochemical industry gathering area built during Tianjin’s “14th Five-Year Plan” and the Long-Term Goal of 2035, being the only bearing place for the high-quality development of Tianjin petrochemical industry. In September 2020, Sinopec and Tianjin signed a strategic cooperation framework agreement to strengthen cooperation in new energy, new materials, new economy and transformation of scientific research achievements. The launching of this project cluster is an important step for deepening cooperation between the two sides. TEDA will take this opportunity to push forward the new energy and new materials industry towards high-end and refinement, and build Nangang Industrial Zone into a digital, intelligent and green national new materials production base.
