FAW-Volkswagen Tianjin Branch Launches Its First Pure EV Project in TEDA

On January 28, the launch ceremony for the new model project VW316/9CN_B of FAW-Volkswagen Automotive Co., Ltd. Tianjin Branch was held in TEDA. As the first pure electric vehicle model from FAW-Volkswagen Tianjin Branch, the project is expected to complete the body-in-white rollout by the end of 2026 and achieve mass delivery in the second half of 2027. This initiative will significantly drive the high-quality development of the new energy and intelligent connected vehicle industry in TEDA and Tianjin.

TEDA Sees Establishment of TEDA Tao Life Science Fund 

Tianjin TEDA Tao Life Science Venture Capital Partnership (Limited Partnership) was officially established in TEDA. With an initial size of 100 million yuan and a duration of seven years, the fund will primarily focus on cutting-edge sectors such as innovative pharmaceuticals, high-end medical devices, in vitro diagnostics, digital healthcare, and innovative medical services. It aims to identify and invest in innovative enterprises with core key technologies in their early or growth stages.

Two Major Tech Innovation Platforms in Industrial Materials Protection Land in TEDA

The Tianjin Branch of the National Scientific Data Center for Material Corrosion and Protection and the Tianjin Society for Corrosion and Protection, two high-end sci-tech innovation platforms, have been established in TEDA. The former will develop three service systems, including data integration and sharing, collaborative technological breakthroughs, and industrial standards empowerment, bridging the pathway for the transformation of data from the laboratory to the production line. The latter aims to build an integrated platform for industry, academia, research, and application, which will significantly drive the deep integration of regional innovation and industrial chains.

Rianlon Lays Foundation for Its First Overseas R&D and Production Base in Malaysia

Rianlon Corporation held the groundbreaking ceremony for its R&D and production base in Malaysia. This project marks Rianlon's first overseas R&D center and production facility, with a total investment of $300 million. It will focus on the research, development and global market application of anti-aging materials, lubricating materials, and bio-based materials, aiming to provide solutions for global polymer materials and lubricant customers. The R&D center and the first phase of the production facilities are scheduled to be operational by the first quarter of 2027.

SDI Chips Launches JXW8848 PCIe Switch Expansion Card

SDI Chips Technology (Tianjin) Co., Ltd., a company based in TEDA, officially launched its independently developed JXW8848 PCIe Switch Expansion Card. The product is equipped with China's first fully independent and controllable PCIe Gen4 Switch chip. It is primarily designed for applications such as GPU clusters, industrial expansion, and high-performance all-flash storage, filling a technological gap in the domestic PCIe expansion field.

TEDA Wins National Honor in Intellectual Property Rights

The China National Intellectual Property Administration announced the review results for the 2025–2027 national pilot program for building a strong intellectual property country. TEDA was successfully approved as a National Demonstration Zone for High-Quality Clustering Development of the Intellectual Property Service Industry. Five TEDA-based enterprises, including Rianlon Corporation and Asymchem Laboratories (Tianjin) Co., Ltd., were honored with the title of National Intellectual Property Demonstration Enterprise.

An Event Held in TEDA to Unveil Alliance, Establish Centers and Ink Projects

The State Key Laboratory of Medical Chemical Biology held its the 2025 Academic Committee Meeting and Academic Exchange Conference in TEDA. During the event, the Tianjin AI+Pharmaceutical Industry Alliance was officially inaugurated. It will promote the greater role of AI, big data, computing power, and other technologies in key areas such as target discovery and drug design. Concurrently, three technology research and transformation centers—AI+Chronic Disease Management, Enzyme Engineering, and Intelligent Nanodrug Delivery—were established, which will significantly advance the deep integration of industry, academia, and research. 

The North China Regional Exchange Conference on Industrial-Financial Globalization Held in TEDA

The North China Regional Exchange Conference on Industrial-Financial Globalization 2026 was held in TEDA. With the theme “Go Global with Industrial-Financial Synergy,” the conference brought together over a hundred representatives from various sectors, including government, enterprises, financial institutions, and industry associations, to jointly explore new opportunities for enterprises in the North China region to expand overseas amidst the restructuring of global industrial chains.
