Introduction
Originally named Tianjin Binhai New Area Light-Textile Economic Zone, TEDA Middle Zone set up the Tianjin Binhai New Area Light-Textile Economic Zone Administrative Committee in July 2010, and began its construction in August. In January 2014, it was merged into TEDA and was officially renamed as TEDA Middle Zone. It spans a planned area of 58 km², comprising 48 km² for industrial use (including a 22 km² eastern expansion zone), and 10 km² designated for residential and supporting facilities.
TEDA Middle Zone focuses on two pillar induatries -- new energy and new materials (covering frontier new materials, high-efficiency energy-saving materials, and advanced environmental-protection materials) and biomedicine (encompassing biologics and medical devices). So far, TEDA Middle Zone boasts 80 companies with either acquired land or leased factory space. Among them, representative enterprises include Mars, Tianjin Golden Bridge Welding Materials Group, Bloomage Biotechnology, Hycan Ruijie Intelligent Packaging, Tianjin Zhengbiao Jinda Cable, and Shandong Huaheng New Material.
