PPG Reinvests in TEDA
PPG Coatings (Tianjin) Co., Ltd. made an additional investment of USD 50 million for increasing its R&D input to develop innovative products and penetrate new markets, thereby enhancing its technology leadership in the coatings industry. As a global leading supplier of paints, coatings and specialty materials, PPG operates its world’s largest coatings production base and two R&D centers in TEDA: the PPG Global Coatings Innovation Center and the PPG Battery Pack Application Center.
Xinxing Cathay International Group Sets up Core Business Research Institute in TEDA
Xinxing Cathay International Group registered a subsidiary Xinxing Green Energy and New Materials Research Institute (Tianjin) Co., Ltd. in TEDA. This company will develop into the first central SOE research institute in Tianjin that focuses on the efficient and clean utilization of vanadium & titanium resources and the development and industrialization of new energy storage materials. This marks the second heavyweight cooperation between TEDA and Xinxing Cathay International Group this year, which builds on the landing of the smart interactive equipment project in January 2024.
KMULLER’s Industrial Base of Global Customization Center Begins Production
KMULLER’s Industrial Base of the Global Customization Center went into production in TEDA. As a key platform supporting the expansion of KMULLER, a British custom luxury vehicle brand into China, the Base will focus on providing high-quality vehicle customization solutions for business elites. With a total investment of RMB 200 million, the project covers an area of 15,000 square meters and has an annual production capacity of 1,000 to 2,000 cars. 6,500 square meters of the first phase is already in use.
SEW Smart Assembly Center Goes into Production
The Smart Assembly Center of TEDA-based SEW-EURODRIVE (Tianjin) Co., Ltd. was put into production, receiving an investment exceeding RMB 1 billion. The Center leverages SEW’s most advanced core technologies of smart logistics, including the next-gen series products of MOVI-C?, the PES energy management solutions, and the self-designed and self-developed AGVs, to build SEW’s smart manufacturing demo plant in China.
Kennametal Begins PCP Equipment Upgrades
Kennametal (China) Co., Ltd. began equipment installation for its packaged cooling plant (PCP) upgrade project. With a planned investment of RMB 15 million, the project will install a PCP and auxiliary facilities to enhance the cooling efficiency to more than double compared to the previous system once the new equipment is operational. Kennametal (China) Co., Ltd., established in TEDA West in February 2005, is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Kennametal Inc. in the United States, a global leader in metalworking tools.
Petrochemical Project Breaks Ground in TEDA Nangang Industrial Zone
Tianjin Dechuan Petrochemical Co., Ltd. broke ground on the project of comprehensive naphtha utilization of 1.2 million tons per year in TEDA Nangang Industrial Zone. With a total investment of about RMB 1.38 billion, the project will focus on building comprehensive naphtha utilization facilities with capacity of 1.2 million tons per year to produce high-value petrochemical products such as benzene, toluene, and xylene. The project is expected to generate an annual output value exceeding 5 billion yuan at planned capacity.
Biosepur’s Manufacturing Base for High-quality Chromatography Consumables Breaks Ground in TEDA
Tianjin Biosepur Purification Equipment and Materials Technology Co., Ltd. held the foundation laying ceremony for its project to establish a manufacturing base for high-quality chromatography consumables in TEDA West. With an investment of RMB 220 million, the project is expected to produce nearly 100 tons of chromatography packing materials per year and about 2,000 units for a set of industrial chromatography equipment and instrument annually after going into production. It will help domestic pharmaceutical enterprises improve the purity of 10 to 20 kinds of raw materials to meet international standards.
TEDA Gains First Qualification of Bonded LNG Bunkering Pilots in North China
The Administrative Committee of China (Tianjin) Pilot Free Trade Zone issued a document granting CNOOC Tianjin New Energy Co., Ltd. the qualification of bonded LNG bunkering pilots for international ships. This marks the first qualification of bonded LNG bunkering pilots in North China acquired by TEDA. Tianjin has thus become the fourth region that can operate the bonded LNG bunkering business after Shenzhen, Ningbo and Shanghai. The pilots will provide significant support for the city to build a center for LNG warehousing, bunkering and trading.
