TEDA 2026 Science and Technology Work Conference Convened

On March 10, the TEDA 2026 Science and Technology Work Conference was successfully held. During the conference, a good review was conducted on the achievements in scientific and technological innovation for the year 2025 and the 14th Five-Year Plan period. Key tasks for the 15th Five-Year Plan period and the year 2026 were comprehensively outlined, and the top 30 regional enterprises in scientific and technological innovation were honored. At the meeting, the science and technology sector in TEDA was mobilized to innovate with determination, deeply promote the integration of technological and industrial innovation, accelerate the cultivation of new quality productive forces, and inject robust technological momentum into the modernization of TEDA. The conference was joined by over 200 participants, including leaders from the TEDA CPC Committee and Administrative Commission, representatives from the top 30 scientific and technological innovation enterprises, universities, research institutions, and scientific platforms, as well as industry experts.

As a pacesetter among state-level economic and technological development zones and the core area of Tianjin's advanced manufacturing R&D base, TEDA has achieved remarkable results in technological innovation. In 2025, R&D investment exceeded 10 billion yuan, with R&D intensity surpassing 3.8%. TEDA has been home to over 200 R&D institutions at or above the provincial level. High-tech enterprises above the designated size accounted for over 40% of the total. It was successfully approved as one of the city's first batch of future industry pilot zones. During the 14th Five-Year Plan period, TEDA saw leapfrog growth in core indicators of technological innovation, with the transaction volume of technology contracts surging by 148% and the total number of national-level technology-based small and medium-sized enterprises doubling. Key milestones were made such as the establishment of the State Key Laboratory of Bio-based Fibers at Tianjin University of Science and Technology and the Tianhe High-Speed Interconnect Chip Project. Technological innovation, once a critical variable to achieve high-quality growth, has turned in a key driver in this initiative.
