TEDA Hosts Medical Device Matchmaking Event for Firefly Plan

On March 31, the TEDA Innovation Achievement Matchmaking Event for Firefly Plan was held in TEDA. Themed on Innovating the Future with Medical-Industrial Integration, the event focused on connecting the players throughout the industrial chain including industry, academia, research institutions, application, and funding resources in the medical device sector. The event consists of sessions including leadership speeches, keynote addresses, release of innovative achievements, presentation of technical demands and application platforms, case studies, and science and technology policy briefings. The goal was to accelerate the transition of technological innovations from the laboratory to the production line. The event attracted over 100 representatives from universities, research institutes, medical institutions, technology enterprises, investment firms, and service organizations.

The conference showcased six cutting-edge innovation achievements, covering areas such as intelligent rehabilitation, early diagnosis, high-end consumables, implantable devices, and trauma repair. Among these, Tianjin Century Healthcare Biomedical Engineering Co., Ltd. highlighted its self-developed Liangshi'an® New Generation Trifocal Plus Intraocular Lens, the first-of-its-kind product globally. This is currently the only trifocal intraocular lens innovation medical device approved in China, showing the R&D strength and core technological capabilities of TEDA in the medical device field.

To achieve precise supply-demand matchmaking, the event is designed with a session presenting technical demands and application platforms. Tianjin TEDA Hospital and Tianjin Fifth Central Hospital presented medical-engineering integration needs, including a "Whole-Process Continuous Temperature Monitoring System for Perioperative Patients" and an "Intelligent Ultrasound Service Platform." Companies such as Sinomed and KingSung Medical introduced specific R&D bottlenecks, including polymer tubing performance testing and absorbable nerve repair sleeves. Meng Chunmei, R&D Project Manager at Hua Rong Ke Chuang, noted that the Firefly Plan plays a positive role in connecting both supply and demand. Now, enterprises don’t have to search for a needle in a haystack when seeking resources. It plays a significant role in promoting innovative development.

Additionally, the National Supercomputer Center in Tianjin, Orange Heart Digital Therapy, and the Binhai New Area Industrial Investment Group shared case studies covering supercomputing-enabled R&D, digital therapeutics center development, and enterprise overseas expansion support systems.

As a key platform for TEDA to facilitate connections between innovative achievements and enterprises, the Firefly Plan serial events has achieved notable results since its launch in 2025. Looking ahead, TEDA will continue to deepen the Firefly Alliance mechanism, host more matchmaking events in specialized sectors, and drive the successful transformation and implementation of more scientific and technological achievements in TEDA.
