International Education
TEDA attaches great importance to the development of education. Years of efforts make education in TEDA develop vigorously in an all-round way. At present, 34 educational institutions of different levels have been built, including 4 colleges, 7 primary and secondary schools, and 12 pre-primary education institutions. High-quality educational resources covering a vertical system from pre-primary to vocational education and a horizontal system from community to international schools have formed, being able to satisfy various demands of domestic and foreign investors and local residents.

The Tianjin Juilliard School is surrounded by Haihe River and Binhe Park. Haihe River, Tianjin’s mother river, is on its west side, and Binhai High-speed Railway Station is on the east side, connecting Beijing and Tianjin. It is the first overseas branch of Juilliard School and a top music school in the world. In September this year, the second pre-college course and the first graduate course of the school started successfully. So far, there are 39 graduate students from 11 countries and regions and nearly 90 pre-college students from all over the country studying here.
The Juilliard School was founded in 1905. The school has worked for providing the highest caliber of artistic education for gifted musicians, dancers, and actors from around the world for more than 100 years. Beyond its New York campus, Juilliard is defining new directions in global performing arts education for a range of learners and enthusiasts through The Tianjin Juilliard School.
The Tianjin Juilliard School is an educational institution offering a graduate program for a Master of Music degree from Juilliard in orchestral studies, chamber music, and collaborative piano; a pre-college program for talented students ages 8-18; continuing education programs for professionals and adult learners; public education programs for music learners of all ages; and public performances. It is the first performing arts institution in China to offer a U.S.-accredited Master of Music degree.
Built by TEDA administrative commission in 1994, it is the first school for both Chinese and foreigners in Tianjin. Absorbing advanced ideas, experiences and methods for running schools at home and abroad, the school has gradually explored a brand new education mode of integration of Chinese and Western cultures.
The international department and Tianjin branch campus provide international education for foreign students. The school has more than 100 foreign teachers, IB course, AP course and European and American courses. The school uses original textbooks, western teaching modes and management methods. They are authenticated by WASC, CIS and IB. So far, more than 800 foreign students from 29 countries and regions in the world are studying and growing here.
Speaking of international education in TEDA, TEDA Maple Leaf International School can not be ignored.
Founded in May 2008, the school is a full-time international school and also the first overseas education park of China Maple Leaf Educational Group. With primary department, junior high department and senior high department, the school is located on the 3rd Avenue in TEDA.
TEDA Maple Leaf International School pays attention to bilingual teaching and individualized education. As a school where East meets West, it offers plenty of opportunities for students to go outside. So far, the school has trained nearly 2,500 graduates going to Canada, Britain, the United States, Australia, Singapore, Japan and other countries and regions for further study.
Located 400 m west of TEDA Maple Leaf International School, Nankai University is a key multidisciplinary and research-oriented university directly under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Education, and also the alma mater of late Premier Zhou Enlai.
Nankai University was founded in 1919 by the famous patriotic educators Zhang Boling and Yan Xiu. Since then, Nankai University has become famous for its superior academic environment, rigorous scientific training measures and pragmatic spirit.
TEDA College is a comprehensive college jointly built by Nankai University and TEDA. Relying on abundant educational resources of Nankai University and excellent social and industrial environment of TEDA, TEDA College develops a new school-running mode for higher education of China in the 21st century, promotes the combination of Nankai University and industries, and sets up a batch of world-leading research centers and incubation centers for engineering technology.
A row of buildings in red, situated on the 13th Avenue in TEDA, are Tianjin University of Science & Technology (TUST). Built in 1958 as Hebei Institute of Light Industry, which was also one of the first batch of institutes of light industry in China, it developed into Tianjin Institute of Light Industry in 1968, and Tianjin University of Science & Technology in 2002.
Light industry not only engraves the history of TUST, but also becomes its characteristic specialty and basic discipline. After development for more than 60 years, the university is influential and competitive. As a key university supported by Tianjin Municipal Government and the only university with bachelor, master and doctor cultivating system in Tianjin Binhai New Area, it is equipped with well-balanced disciplines diversified in engineering, science, arts, agriculture, economics, management, law and art.
The university adheres to the idea of being an open educational institution, and keeps pace with the world.
