Upgrading into China Headquarters and Inaugurating Its First NEV Plant

FAW-Toyota Motor Co., Ltd. scored continuous breakthroughs in TEDA with one leap-forward after another. During the past few years, the company rolled out several new models. In October 2020, FAW-Toyota in TEDA increased domestic capital by 3.8 billion yuan and foreign capital by US$560 million, becoming an integrated headquarters of FAW-Toyota. At the end of November of the same year, FAW-Toyota was recognized by the Tianjin Commerce Bureau as a regional headquarters of multinational company. In November 2022, FAW Toyota’s first NEV plant was completed.

FAW-Volkswagen

More Progress in Green and Intelligent Manufacturing Together with  a New Motor Project

Volkswagen’s TEDA journey began with the settle-down of Volkswagen Automatic Transmission Tianjin back in 2012. Keeping bringing in latest technologies to Tianjin, the FAW-Volkswagen North China Base was recognized as Tianjin’s very first grade-A environment-friendly whole-vehicle production base in 2021. In December 2022, the Base launched its new photovoltaic project. The Volkswagen Transmission Tianjin Plant also witnessed smooth progress, with the APP310 power motor project launched in 2020 and the new APP550 electric vehicle drive motor project in 2022.

Vitesco Technologies

A “Super Factory” with Deep Integration of R&D and Production

Vitesco Technologies’ Tianjin plant is one of the largest auto parts suppliers in Tianjin and one of the most crucial bases for the Group in China. In March 2021, the Tianjin plant’s second production line for highly integrated EMR3 electric axle drive system and first power module production line became operational. In 2022, the A12 BSG and the new EMR3 entered mass production. In November 2021, the Tianjin R&D Center was inaugurated, making the Tianjin plant a “super factory” marked by deeply integrated R&D and production.

Aisin Tianjin

8-speed Automatic Transmission Project Launched

At the end of 2021, Aisin Tianjin launched its 8-speed automatic transmission project. With a total investment of 230 million yuan, the project adopts the world’s advanced transmission production technology. Once operational, this project will make Aisin Tianjin the Group’s third global production base of 8-speed automatic transmissions. Aisin Tianjin is jointly invested by Aisin, the world’s leading automatic transmission brand, and China FAW.

SEW Group

New Intelligent Manufacturing Base is Coming

In May 2022, TEDA Administrative Commission signed an investment cooperation agreement with SEW Eurodrive (China) Investment, involving an investment of US$150 million for intelligent manufacturing base in TEDA. The SEW Group is a multinational focusing on the production of reducers, inverter control equipments and other transmission systems, with SEW Eurodrive (China) Investment as the group’s China headquarters. SEW is a technical solution provider to a series of mega projects and events such as the opening and closing ceremonies of the Beijing Winter Olympics, the “Zero-carbon Terminal” of Tianjin Port, etc.

Otis

Inaugurating Its First Smart Elevator Testing Center in China

The TEDA Base is Otis’ only base with qualification and capability of high-speed elevator manufacturing worldwide. In 2020, Otis Elevator (China) Co., Ltd. increased its registered capital from 298 million to 1 billion RMB to upgrade and renovate its intelligent manufacturing facilities, expand market presence, and facilitate IOT digital innovation. In September 2021, Zhongao Intelligent Technology Development Co., Ltd., Otis’ first intelligent elevator testing center in China, was established at the TEDA base and was put into use in 2022.

DMG MORI

Building Its First Green Factory in China

DMG MORI strives to build its Tianjin factory into a garden-like facility. In April 2022, DMG MORI debuted its new high-precision high-speed horizontal machining center NHC5500, which is manufactured in the Tianjin factory. In July of the same year, the Tianjin factory became the first green factory of DMG MORI in China following the launching of its photovoltaic project.

Kennametal

Increasing Registered Capital by 50 Million Yuan and Total Investment by 150 Million YuanKennametal (China) Co., Ltd. is an important global manufacturing base for Kennametal Inc. In January 2020, TEDA Administrative Commission and Kennametal (China) Co., Ltd. inked an investment cooperation agreement for capital increment and capacity expansion. Specifically, the entity’s registered capital will be increased by 50 million yuan and its total investment by 150 million yuan for automation and intelligent upgrading, product and performance enhancement, and capacity expansion.

IRIS

IRIS’ Tianjin Smart Factory Opens

IRIS’ Tianjin Smart Factory was put into operation in 2021, highlighted by intelligent production and fully automated warehousing. The IRIS Lifestyle Products (Tianjin) Co., Ltd. joined TEDA in 2018 with 100% investment from Japan’s IRISOhyama Corporation, one of the world’s largest manufacturers of household products.

Hydra Specma

Continuous Capacity Expansion

In 2021, Hydra Specma Hydraulics (Tianjin) Co., Ltd. expanded its production and R&D space for hydraulic and lubricating systems, hydraulic components and industrial components by 3,295 square meters in TEDA West. A Danish wholly-owned company and a leader in the industry, Hydra Specma set up its Tianjin plant in 2015 in TEDA.

HuaBrake-ATV and HuaBrake (Tianjin) Transmission Technology

Establishing the Sino-French ATV Transmission Equipment R&D and Service Base

In 2020, HuaBrake-ATV (Tianjin) Transmission Equipment Co., Ltd. and HuaBrake (Tianjin) Transmission Technology Co., Ltd. set up the Sino-French joint venture ATV Transmission Equipments R&D and Service Base in TEDA. The project plans to set up research and service Center as well as sales and settlement center for its entire Chinese market. HuaBrake-ATV (Tianjin) Transmission Equipment Co., Ltd. is a Sino-French joint venture specializing in the production of industrial brakes and couplings. HuaBrake (Tianjin) Transmission Technology Co., Ltd. is the sole agent of the French group ATV Transmission Equipment in China.
