Johannes Marschall: in Pursuit of Dreams in TEDA

Johannes Marschall currently serves as president of FAW-Volkswagen Tianjin Branch. With over 20 years of experience at Audi, he made the decision to work in Volkswagen’s Tianjin venture when he was given the opportunity.

FAW-Volkswagen Tianjin Branch is a leading modern and outstanding factory within the FAW-Volkswagen Group, equipped with cutting-edge technological processes. The factory’s intelligent, green, and low-carbon production aligns perfectly with the urban development concept of TEDA, while maintaining good cooperative relationships with TEDA government and the TEDA Low Carbon Center.

Marschall really enjoys his work and life in Tianjin. Through the auto industry, he has also made his first Chinese friend here. As a native German, Marschall had limited exposure to Chinese culture before, but his yearning for China’s 5,000 years of civilization remains undiminished. During his free time, Marschall explores the streets and alleys of the city on shared bicycles, delving into the lives and culture of the people here. Through cross-cultural communication, his understanding of Chinese culture and Tianjin’s local culture continues to deepen. He particularly appreciates Tianjin’s folk culture and has created his first Yangliuqing woodblock New Year painting here.

Currently, TEDA is enhancing its overseas attractiveness through the gathering of high-end industries, Tianjin Port, and modern municipal infrastructure, while maintaining a friendly and open attitude. More and more foreign-funded enterprises and foreign talents like Marschall are coming to live and work in TEDA, becoming an important force driving the international development of this industrial new city.
