TEDA Built “Big Rocket” to Facilitate China’s Space Station Construction
On October 31, 2022, the Long March 5B Telemetry 4 carrier rocket carrying the Mengtian Space Station Lab Module was successfully launched from China’s Wenchang Spacecraft Launch Site. The rocket was produced, assembled and tested by the Tianjin Industrialization Base of China’s Next-gen Carrier Rockets located in TEDA West. Up to now, the Long March 5B carrier rocket has successfully completed the launching mission of the Tianhe core module, the Wentian lab module and the Mengtian lab module which all are parts of the space station.
As a new space industry compound representing China’s and world’s space technology level, Tianjin Industrialization Base of China’s Next-gen Carrier Rockets integrates carrier rocket parts production, component assembly, final assembly testing and trials. The production of parts and components, assembly and testing of the new generation of large-sized carrier rockets namely Long March 5 and Long March 5B, as well as medium-sized carrier rockets Long March 7, Long March 7A and Long March 8, are all completed here.
