China’s First Otsuka Aseptic Line Plant Settled in TEDA!

Tianjin Otsuka Beverage Co., Ltd. held the Groundbreaking Ceremony for the Aseptic Line Plant of Pocari Sweat in TEDA East on August 8th, 2024. This project marks the first aseptic production line invested by Otsuka Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. in China, covering an area of about 30,000 square meters. The production line will incorporate the fastest production equipment within the group, with commercial production expected to begin in 2026. The settlement of this production line shows Otsuka Group’s firm commitment to develop its presence in TEDA.

TEDA is a significant hub for Japanese investment in China, with over 440 registered Japanese companies and a total investment exceeding 7 billion USD. Tianjin Otsuka Beverage Co., Ltd. is a three-party Sino-Japanese joint venture founded in September 2002 in TEDA, owned by Tianjin Bohai Light Industry Investment Group Co., Ltd., Otsuka Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd., and Otsuka (China) Investment Co., Ltd. Pocari Sweat, the electrolyte beverage was introduced to the Chinese market after Tianjin Otsuka Beverage began operations in 2003.
