Handling Capacity of Sinopec’s Tianjin LNG Terminal in TEDA Nangang Hits 41 Million Tons
On August 17, the LNG carrier “Al Hamla”, loaded with 90,000 tons of liquefied natural gas, berthed and completed unloading at the receiving terminal of Sinopec Natural Gas Branch Tianjin LNG in Nangang Industrial Zone of TEDA. Since commencing operations in February 2018, the terminal has received a total of 41 million tons of LNG, regasified and distributed over 48 billion cubic meters of natural gas, and reduced carbon dioxide emissions by more than 66 million tons. These efforts have provided substantial support for optimizing the energy mix in North China and advancing regional green, low-carbon development.
Sinopec’s Tianjin LNG Terminal is the company’s first domestically developed facility with complete independent intellectual property rights and packaged processing technology. With an annual handling capacity of 10.8 million tons and total gas storage of 1.08 billion cubic meters, it ranks among China’s largest operational LNG terminals. In November 2024, Sinopec commissioned the nation’s first cold-heat energy exchange station in Nangang, holding strong demonstrative sinificance for green energy transition.
