Gurit Global R&D Center for Advanced Composite Materials Established in TEDA

On November 17, the TEDA Administrative Commission and Gurit Holding AG of Switzerland jointly held an unveiling ceremony for the Gurit Global R&D Center for Advanced Composite Materials. The two parties conducted in-depth discussions on topics such as industrial chain collaboration and joint technological innovation, reaching multiple consensus points for cooperation.

The establishment of this R&D center represents a key strategic move by Gurit Group to strengthen its end-to-end value chain from  R&D–production and reflects its firm confidence in long-term investment in the Chinese market. 

The R&D center is located in the Yat-sen Intelligence & Innovation Park within TEDA, with a planned area of 1,000 square meters. It primarily focuses on the R&D and analytical testing of PET material performance metrics and will establish a pilot production line at the manufacturing base within the park for process development. The project is expected to be officially operational by the end of this year. By then, Gurit will achieve a full industrial chain layout in TEDA, spanning from R&D and design to manufacturing. This will meet the urgent demand for innovative material solutions in rapidly growing markets such as wind energy and new energy vehicles, effectively driving the collaborative development of upstream and downstream industries.

A relevant executive of Gurit said that Tianjin boasts a solid industrial foundation and a superior business environment, making it a key strategic pivot for Gurit to deepen its presence in the Asia-Pacific market. The newly established global R&D center will significantly enhance the company's independent innovation capabilities and response speed in the field of core materials, providing solid technical support and strong backing for the development of subsequent new production lines.
