Novo Nordisk Explores Global ‘Zero-pollution Circulation’
Novo Nordisk (China) Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. has explored “zero-pollution circulation” in various ways. As a multinational enterprise cultivating in TEDA, the Tianjin Plant has become the lowest energy-consuming plant among all the plants.
According to Nielsen, vice president of Novo Nordisk Global Company and president of the Tianjin Plant, the Plant plans to fulfill a “zero” impact of production activities, key suppliers and products on the environment by 2030. In October 2016, as one of China’s first companies fully converting fossil energy into renewable energy, the Tianjin Plant achieved 100% use of renewable electricity. In 2020, the plant achieved a water saving of 27% year-on-year, about 60 thousand tons. In the future, Novo Nordisk will strive to achieve energy-saving targets such as green power, while promoting suppliers to use green energy. So far, 9 suppliers have realized green electricity.
