Tianjin Photo Contest Celebrates Foreigners’ Experience of the City

A contest vying for photos from foreigners living, working, and studying in Tianjin has garnered exceptional photo contributions.

The second edition of the “Tianjin in the Eyes of Friendly Foreigners” photo contest, organized by the Tianjin People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, the Tianjin Science and Technology Bureau, and the China Daily Tianjin Bureau, concluded on Tuesday with an award ceremony.

Contestants from up to 20 countries have submitted nearly 300 photos since April.

“The photos capture the city’s beauty and vividly showcase the stories within the city. Through their lenses, these photos demonstrate the city’s rapid development and the collaborative efforts of Chinese and foreign friends in creating a more inviting environment for living and working,” said Huang Chunyan, vice president of the association.

“The photos I contributed represent the city’s rapid development and the hardworking spirit of its builders,” said Lee Hsuan-suan, a Malaysian student from Tianjin University and a first-place award winner in the contest.

John Goulas, an Australian teacher from Haileybury Schools, Tianjin, a second place award winner, said Tianjin’s architectural marvels are not merely structures of steel and concrete; they represent the spirit of the city that embraces progress while preserving its rich cultural heritage.
