An aerial drone photo taken on May 19, 2025 shows the construction site of the Tianjin-Weifang High-Speed Railway’s Jingu Haihe Tunnel project in north China’s Tianjin. A giant tunnel boring machine successfully crossed the Haihe River in the Tianjin-Weifang High-Speed Railway’s Jingu Haihe Tunnel project, with a cumulative excavation distance exceeding 5,000 meters.
The Tianjin-Weifang High-Speed Railway starts from the Binhai Station in Tianjin and terminates at the Weifang North Station, with a total length of approximately 348 kilometers and a designed speed of 350 kilometers per hour. The Jingu Haihe Tunnel, which is about 6.7 kilometers long, is the only tunnel along the entire railway line with a maximum excavation diameter reaching 13.8 meters.
