Tianjin Holds New Year Reception for International Community
As the upcoming Chinese Lunar New Year approaches, the Tianjin foreign affairs office hosted the “International Community Around You” New Year Reception on Feb 1. The event aimed to bring together members of the international community to celebrate the Lunar New Year and discuss mutual development.
Luan Jianzhang, director of the Tianjin foreign affairs office, attended the reception and delivered a speech at the opening ceremony. Over 200 representatives from the international community of Tianjin, including foreign-funded enterprises, foreign diplomatic missions, foreign experts and international students, gathered for the event.
Luan extended New Year greetings to friends from all walks of life, who care about and support Tianjin’s development. He expressed gratitude to everyone for their positive contributions to Tianjin’s economic and social development. Luan said that Tianjin foreign affairs office will remain committed to the concept of foreign affairs for the people, continue to serve the international community well, drive home the goal of providing a more convenient and comfortable environment for everyone working, studying, and living in Tianjin, and collectively bring high-quality development to the city.
During the reception, member units of the Tianjin Municipal Foreign Friendship Association, including Nankai University, Tianjin Normal University, Tianjin Conservatory of Music, and others, presented captivating performances ranging from Peking Opera, cross-talk, Tai Chi, traditional music, martial arts, and dance. The event also featured live demonstrations of intangible cultural heritage, such as Yangliuqing New Year paintings, Tianjin-style filigree inlaying techniques, paper-cutting, calligraphy, and tea art. Well-known Tianjin brands also showcased their products at the venue.
During the event, Tianjin culture and tourism bureau presented information about the top ten key activities and premium tourist routes for the upcoming Spring Festival. As the Spring Festival kicks off, the office will continue to host relevant and enlightening activities to welcome the Year of the Dragon.
