TEDA’s Cultural & Tourism Feast Awaits You to Celebrate Chinese Spring Festival!
In December, 2024, the China-nominated “Spring Festival, social practices of the Chinese people in celebration of traditional new year” was added to the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. The 2025 Spring Festival marks the first “Intangible Heritage Edition” of this cherished holiday. To celebrate this traditional festival, TEDA has prepared a lively and colorful cultural and tourism feast, featuring intangible cultural heritage performances, marine-themed activities, creative technology interactions, New Year lantern shows, light shows, etc. Local residents and visitors are welcome to experience an authentic Chinese New Year here.
Beitang Ancient Town—China Chic Art Festival
During the Spring Festival, Beitang Ancient Town will host the “Big Fishing Beitang: LOHAS Ancient Town”, a China Chic Art Festival. Activities will include traditional Chinese-style parades, stilt walking, flying cymbal performances, dragon dances, intangible cultural performances of Iron Fireworks, and many other folk performances. Visitors can also enjoy the Shuanglei Music Festival and the Royal International Circus. These events, as a salute to traditional Chinese culture, aim to create a joyful festive atmosphere for audiences.
Sea Gate Fair—Lantern Exhibition Lights up Fantasy Night
The Sea Gate Fair Fantasy Night has already begun, with its highlight being the lantern exhibition. Organizers have invited a team of intangible cultural heritage lantern makers from Zigong of Sichuan Province to create a unique display. Spanning over 20,000 square meters of display area, the exhibition features animation figures such as “Ao Hai”, “Ao Jing” as well as traditional classic patterns like “Phoenix Building its Nest”, “Dragon Soaring to the Sky”, and “Monkey King Descends to Earth”. The event also includes traditional folk performances such as Sichuan Opera face-changing and shadow puppetry.
Tianjin Polar Ocean Resort
Tianjin Polar Ocean Resort will offer a magical marine-themed New Year celebration. In addition to classic marine shows like mermaid performances, beluga interactions, and dolphin shows, visitors can also enjoy Dragons Soaring Under the Sea performance, outdoor snow play, intangible cultural performance of Iron Fireworks, and an international circus. Cheerful New Year atmosphere can also be found by the riverbanks, where seagulls play in the water along the Haihe River.
Together with TEDA Aircraft Carrier Theme Park, the National Maritime Museum, and Dongjiang Coastal Park, the Polar Ocean Resort has crafted a series of marine-themed Spring Festival activities, providing visitors with a distinctive and memorable marine-themed celebration.
Binhai Cultural Center
The Binhai Cultural Center is set to present a vibrant lineup of cultural and artistic events. The Binhai Art Museum will host a variety of exhibitions, including From Earth: Contemporary Visual Art on Ecology, along with intangible cultural heritage displays and calligraphy and painting fairs. A unique collection of 50 Spring Festival-themed stamps featuring local Tianjin culture will also be available, offering visitors a distinct taste of Tianjin’s New Year charm. The Binhai New Area Library will feature a New Year-themed painting exhibition, named Scholars and the City, a collection of works by contemporary Tianjin writers, and the 12 Zodiac Animals Celebrating the Spring Festival event, showcasing traditional customs and local culture. Meanwhile, the Binhai Science Museum will host a series of engaging activities, including science experiment shows, flash-mob skits, clown interactions, and magic performances, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in the enchanting world of technology amidst a joyful and festive atmosphere.
Dagukou Fort Relic Museum
The Dagukou Fort Relic Museum will launch a special series event——Celebrating the Chinese New Year at the Museum , inviting visitors to enjoy the red-themed 3D film Sad Melody of Dagukou. Additional activities include cultural fairs, treasure hunts, and parent-child DIY workshops, offering a comprehensive and traditional cultural experience for families.
As night falls and the city lights begin to shine, the spectacular light show along the Haihe River will illuminate the Yuxiang Area of TEDA. Beautiful light projections on the facades of riverside buildings will echo the twinkling stars, interacting with the lighted outline of Tianjin Chow Tai Fook Financial Center in the distance and adding to the skyline’s brilliance. Additionally, special Spring Festival-themed fireworks displays at the TEDA Aircraft Carrier Theme Park and Tianjin Fantawild Amusement Park will dazzle the night sky, sending heartfelt New Year’s blessings to all visitors.
