04-29-2026

On April 28, the first vehicle of the all-new Tayron L PHEV officially rolled off the production line at FAW-Volkswagen Automotive Co., Ltd. Tianjin Branch. This milestone marks the company's successful achievement of flexible co-production of fuel-powered and plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) models, represents a key step in its new energy transformation. It will inject strong momentum into the high-quality development of TEDA's automotive industry.

Positioned as a mid-to-high-end plug-in hybrid SUV for the household market, the all-new Tayron L PHEV offers a comprehensive driving range exceeding 1,200 kilometers and is equipped with an advanced intelligent driving assistance system, significantly enhancing travel safety and convenience.

FAW-Volkswagen Tianjin Branch is currently making steady progress in its new energy transformation. The development of a battery electric vehicle (BEV) model based on the Volkswagen Group's new CMP platform has already been initiated and is scheduled for mass production in 2027. By that time, the Tianjin base will achieve a comprehensive product portfolio covering three major powertrain technologies: fuel-powered vehicles, PHEVs, and BEVs.

Wang Kairui, Secretary of the Party Committee and General Manager of FAW-Volkswagen Tianjin Branch, stated that once the company's presence is fully established across the three major areas of fuel-powered vehicles, PHEVs, and BEVs, its strategic role will achieve two major leaps: first, transforming from a traditional fuel vehicle production base into a comprehensive manufacturing hub and industrial base integrating fuel-powered vehicles, vehicles, PHEVs, and BEVs; and second, as a "chain leader" enterprise, FAW-Volkswagen Tianjin Branch will drive the entire industrial chain toward new energy upgrading.

As one of the core hubs of Tianjin's automotive industry, TEDA has brought together several leading vehicle manufacturers including FAW Toyota, FAW-Volkswagen, and Great Wall Motors, along with over 200 auto parts suppliers, forming a complete, synergistic, and highly efficient automotive industry chain ecosystem. In 2025, TEDA's vehicle output reached 679,000 units, accounting for 86% of Tianjin's total vehicle production. TEDA is currently accelerating its transformation toward new energy and intelligent connected vehicles. The launch of the Tayron L PHEV echoes Great Wall Motors' global pre-sales launch of the Wey V9X, which is built on the new One platform, demonstrating the region's continuously accelerating pace of new energy transformation. Looking ahead, TEDA will continue to drive the regional automotive industry toward electrification, intelligence, and high-end, further supporting the high-quality development of Tianjin's automotive industry.
