Sinopec Begins Construction of Silver-Containing Spent Catalyst Comprehensive Recovery Unit Project in TEDA

06-15-2026

Sinopec Catalyst (Tianjin) Co., Ltd. recently commenced construction on its 1,200-ton/year silver-containing spent catalyst comprehensive recovery unit in TEDA's Nangang Industrial Zone, with production expected to begin in 2027. As a pivotal part of the Sinopec Catalyst Tianjin New Material Production Base, the project utilizes advanced processes that outperform traditional technologies in silver recovery, enabling it to maximize resource value, meet critical industry demand for disposal, and achieve efficient metal recovery alongside harmless waste treatment, so as to support the regional petrochemical industry's green, low-carbon development.

Catalysts serve as the foundation and core of the petrochemical sector, often hailed as the "chips" of the industry. Investing RMB 6.5 billion in its new material production base within the Nangang Industrial Zone, Sinopec Catalyst Co., Ltd. plans to build multiple production units and supporting utilities for polyolefin, silver, DQ, and POE catalysts.
