Huadian's 10,000-Ton Solid Adsorption Carbon Capture Project Begins Construction in Nangang Industrial Zone, Filling the Gap in China

08-12-2026

Recently, Huadian Power International TEDA Branch officially commenced construction on its 10,000-ton solid adsorption carbon capture demonstration project in Nangang Industrial Zone of TEDA. As a national key R&D program project, it adopts cutting-edge green, efficient, and low-cost carbon capture technologies. Upon completion, the project will be a ground-breaking examplar of 10,000-ton solid adsorption carbon capture, providing crucial technical support for overcoming emission reduction bottlenecks in traditional thermal power and promoting clean and low-carbon coal-fired power utilization, thereby boosting TEDA's green and low-carbon transformation.

The project is undertaken by Huadian Power International Tianjin Development Area Branch and led by Huadian Electric Power Research Institute, in joint collaboration with institutions including Tianjin University, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, and Southwest Research & Design Institute of the Chemical Industry, serving as an exemplar of industry-university-research cooperation. At present, all pre-construction preparations for the project are fully completed.
