China’s First Cold & Heat Energy Exchange Station Operates in TEDA Nangang
On November 13, Sinopec launched China’s first cold and heat energy exchange station in the Nangang Industrial Zone in TEDA. This project marks the country’s first integration of an LNG receiving terminal with large-scale petrochemical production facilities, achieving an annual handling capacity of over 2.6 million tons. The station is expected to save 13 million cubic meters of natural gas and 3 million kilowatt-hours of electricity annually, serving as a significant model for promoting green, low-carbon energy transitions.
This project overcomes dual challenges in the scale and distance of LNG cold energy utilization. The station has achieved a domestic record of utilizing cold energy at 346 tons per hour and enables cold energy transmission over a long distance of 22 kilometers, breaking the historical limitation of cold energy use to smaller areas in China. Additionally, with its innovative cold and heat exchange technology, the station achieves a cold energy conversion efficiency of over 95%, ranking first domestically, and further demonstrating the vast potential for LNG cold energy utilization.
