GWM Starts MIND Electronics Tianjin Project in TEDA

Great Wall Motors’ new project, MIND Electronics Tianjin Project began construction on February 8 in TEDA West. With a total investment of RMB 1.153 billion, the project will establish two new factories for optoelectronic and thermal systems, featuring the most advanced smart production lines within the GWM group. The facilities will primarily manufacture air conditioning assemblies, cooling modules, vehicle headlights, side marker lights, tailgate lights, auxiliary lighting components, etc. The project is expected to achieve an annual production capacity of 400,000 sets and start operations in this year, generating an estimated annual output value of RMB 3 billion upon reaching full production. To ensure the project’s early commencement, multiple departments of TEDA Administrative Commission collaborated closely and provided specialized services, enabling the company to complete all pre-construction procedures in just 27 calendar days—including the New Year’s Day and Spring Festival holidays. This achievement once again set a new benchmark for TEDA’s renowned Speed of Service in supporting enterprises.

Established in 2009 in TEDA West, GWM Tianjin Haval Branch began production in August 2011 with a total investment of RMB 12.67 billion. As GWM’s first vehicle production base outside Baoding, it has a complete manufacturing process, including stamping, welding, painting, and final assembly. As of the end of 2024, the Tianjin Base had produced a cumulative total of 3.98 million vehicles, contributing RMB 403.6 billion in output value. MIND Electronics Appliance Co., Ltd., one of GWM’s four major component subsidiaries and a leading player in the automotive supply chain, operates 24 sales and R&D centers as well as 28 production bases worldwide.

TEDA is home to three major automakers—FAW Toyota, FAW-Volkswagen, and Great Wall Motors—along with over 200 auto components providers. TEDA has developed a fully-fledged supply chain including powertrain systems, chassis systems, body systems, electronic and electrical systems, upstream materials, and downstream services, forming a comprehensive industrial ecosystem.
