Novonesis Sets Up New Building in TEDA

On February 19th, the groundbreaking ceremony for the new administration building project of Novozymes (China) Biotechnology Co., Ltd. was held in TEDA. This project is one of Novonesis’ strategic investment initiatives in China. It plans to construct a comprehensive building that combines modern office spaces, product exhibitions, and multifunctional conference areas, which will significantly enhance the company’s R&D, office, and overall operational capabilities. Søren Carlsen, Vice President of Regional Manufacturing APAC of Novonesis, stated that the investment in the new administration building in Tianjin demonstrates Novonesis’ confidence in the innovation, sustainability, and business growth of its Tianjin facility. It also reflects the group’s high recognition of TEDA’s business environment and its strong confidence in China’s biotechnology industry.

Headquartered in Copenhagen, Denmark, Novonesis was formed through a combination of Novozymes and Chr. Hansen, which are long-established biotech multinationals. Novozymes (China) Biotechnology Co., Ltd. was founded in 1994 in TEDA and serves as an important strategic enzyme production and R&D base for Novonesis in China. The facility mainly handles the group’s formula R&D, application R&D, pilot testing, production, supply chain logistics, procurement, Asia-Pacific financial center, and other operational and administrative functions in China. The company has been recognized as a regional headquarters of multinational corporations by Tianjin Commission of Commerce. Its full-scale washing laboratory and fabric testing laboratory are the largest full-scale washing test platform in the global Novozymes network.
