TEDA-developed Oilfield Corrosion Inhibitor Delivered

03-25-2025

Recently, TEDA-based CNOOC (Tianjin) Oilfield Chemical Co., Ltd. delivered the first batch of customized Hailong brand corrosion inhibitors to Ahdeb Oilfield in Iraq. This marks another milestone for Hailong brand going global, following successful projects such as corrosion inhibitors for Iraq’s Maysan Oilfield and demulsifiers for Kazakhstan.

Corrosion inhibitors are chemical substances that prevent or slow down material corrosion and are widely used in oilfield development. The corrosion inhibitors delivered for the Ahdeb Oilfield are proprietary products developed by CNOOC (Tianjin) Oilfield Chemical to address the high salinity and severe corrosion conditions for the site. These inhibitors can effectively extend the service life of oilfield equipment and facilities and will increase reserves and enhance output for the Ahdeb Oilfield to achieve the green development goal.

CNOOC (Tianjin) Oilfield Chemical Co., Ltd. was established in June 2018 at Nangang Industrial Zone in TEDA. The company has since developed a full-chain system encompassing R&D, production, and services, and has secured a total of 57 national patents. In 2021, the company completed the construction of Phase I of the CNOOC Oilfield Chemicals Nangang Plant, which is the largest oilfield chemical production base for gathering and transportation within CNOOC. The facility features DCS automated production capabilities. The corrosion inhibitors delivered for this project were produced on the smart production line of this Nangang Plant. From contract signing to final delivery, the process took only 46 days, 35% shorter than the industry average while meeting or exceeding international standards in all key performance indicators.
