China (Tianjin)-Finland Green Industries Cooperation Exchange Conference Held in Helsinki, Finland
The "Invest in Tianjin·Select Economic Development Zones" China (Tianjin)-Finland Green Industries Cooperation Exchange Conference was successfully held in Helsinki, the capital of Finland, on October 16 (local time). The event was aimed to build the "Invest in China" brand, an initiative of the Ministry of Commerce, deepen practical cooperation between Tianjin and Finnish enterprises, establish efficient industrial collaboration platforms, and promote mutually beneficial development.
The event was co-hosted by the Tianjin Municipal Bureau of Commerce and the Administrative Commission of Tianjin Economic-Technological Development Area (TEDA). It brought together representatives from the Embassy of China in Finland, Business Finland, and well-known Finnish enterprises and institutions such as Metso, Solved The Cleantech Company, Hankintatukku, and Basemark. More than 50 participants, including officials from the Tianjin Municipal Bureau of Commerce, TEDA, and Tianjin-based enterprise representatives, gathered to discuss collaboration opportunities.
During the exchange, the Tianjin Municipal Bureau of Commerce provided a comprehensive overview of Tianjin’s investment environment, industrial development, and cooperation opportunities. Business Finland shared Finland’s advanced concepts and practical achievements in the green sector.
TEDA highlighted its comprehensive regional environment, industrial strengths, and innovative practices in green and low-carbon development. As one of the first national-level development zones, TEDA has consistently prioritized green development as its foundational principle. It has established a "4+1" industrial system comprising four pillar industries—automotive and high-end equipment, chemical and new materials, next-generation information technology, and pharmaceutical and healthcare—alongside modern services. The zone has not only cultivated numerous national and Tianjin municipal-level green factories, but has also been included in the list of carbon peak pilot projects by China’s National Development and Reform Commission. Additionally, it has been recognized as one of the first "Global Sustainable Development Goals Demonstration Zones" and has received multiple domestic and international green accolades. By creating diverse and extensive green application scenarios, TEDA plays an exemplary role in promoting green transformation and development among industrial parks in China.
To pragmatically advance the strategic cooperation between TEDA and Finnish enterprises in the green industry, TEDA unveiled 16 cooperation scenarios across five major categories during the conference, with a focus on its reality in green development. These categories include clean energy, equipment and urban renewal, resource recycling, ecological and environmental protection, and intelligent transformation. Finnish companies were invited to deepen collaboration in four key areas: technical services, equipment manufacturing, co-creation of scenarios, and joint investment. The aim is to jointly facilitate the implementation and transformation of more advanced Finnish technologies and high-quality projects in TEDA, thereby contributing to regional green development and achieving shared technology research, market access, and mutual benefits. The collaboration scenarios garnered widespread interest from the Finnish companies present. Representatives from various sectors including advanced manufacturing, green technology, food, and energy storage engaged in lively discussions and exchanges with the delegation from TEDA. They further inquired about relevant industrial policies, cooperation models, innovation support, and market prospects in their respective fields of interest, demonstrating strong intent for future collaboration.
Jarkko Sutinen, Vice President of Global Procurement at the Finnish company Metso, shared the company’s development journey and success stories in Tianjin during the meeting. He also expressed the company’s intention to deepen its presence in TEDA and further expand investment and cooperation. Santtu Hulkkonen, CEO and Co-founder of Solved The Cleantech Company, introduced the core strengths of the enterprise and spoke highly of TEDA’s achievements in low-carbon development and industrial transformation, laying a solid foundation for future collaboration.
At the event, the TEDA Administrative Commission and Solved The Cleantech Company signed a Cooperation Memorandum in Green Technology. Both parties will work together to promote the application and implementation of advanced clean energy, circular economy, green manufacturing, and other related technologies within TEDA. They will also explore the possibility of co-building a clean technology innovation center or a sustainable development lab in TEDA to carry out cross-border collaborative R&D and project incubation. In addition, the two sides will actively facilitate collaboration between TEDA and Nordic countries, as well as other nations, in the green industry sector, with the aim of promoting two-way investment and market expansion.
During the visit, the TEDA delegation also met with leading Finnish companies in their respective industries, such as KONE Elevator, Solved The Cleantech Company, and Finn-Power. They provided targeted introductions to the development achievements and high-quality investment environment of TEDA in areas including intelligent manufacturing, new materials, and clean energy. In-depth discussions were also held on potential collaboration directions.
In June of this year, the China (Tianjin)-Finland Green Technology Forum was successfully held in the Tianjin Economic-Technological Development Area (TEDA), where multiple Finnish companies reached preliminary cooperation intentions with TEDA enterprises. The recent exchange event in Helsinki not only consolidated the earlier collaborative achievements but also established an efficient platform for cooperation and communication between the industrial sectors of both sides. This further strengthened industry interaction and expanded diversified channels for collaboration. Through this exchange meeting, TEDA and Finnish companies engaged in in-depth discussions across various sectors such as clean energy, circular economy, green manufacturing, and smart building. They successfully matched a number of high-quality projects characterized by strong innovation capabilities, advanced technology, and promising application prospects, resulting in multiple concrete cooperation intentions. The event drew significant attention from local industry circles and was extensively covered by Xinhua News Agency as well as other leading local media. Moving forward, TEDA will continue to optimize its industrial and business environment, aiming to attract high-end global cooperation projects, including those from Finland, to take root in the area. This effort will inject new momentum into the region’s high-quality development.
