A Project of Volkswagen Automatic Transmission’s APP550 EV Power Motor Breaks Ground

Recently, the APP550 EV Power Motor project of Volkswagen Automatic Transmission (Tianjin) Co., Ltd. has officially started construction in TEDA West, which is a proof that the enterprise is continuously facilitating its localized production of EV (electric vehicle) parts. This is of great significance to the auto industry upgrading and its continuous optimization and upgrade of the product structure in TEDA and Tianjin. The project will be built in two phases. The first phase, with a projected investment of 150 million euros and a designed capacity of 330,000 units for the production of EV power motors, is expected to become operational in 2025.

Since its establishment in 2012 in TEDA, Volkswagen Automatic Transmission (Tianjin) Co., Ltd. has been increasing its capital and expanding production. In 2021, the company’s transmission production reached 1.148 million units, with an output value of 23.15 billion yuan.
