Tianjin University's Feng Jicai Museum was filled with lanterns, festive decorations and joyful laughter on Feb 10, which marked the Little New Year in northern China.

Chinese and international students gathered in the museum to immerse themselves in the traditional culture and customs while experiencing the deeper meaning behind Spring Festival — reunion and shared belonging.

Renowned writer Feng Jicai spoke with students about the essence of Chinese New Year. "Home is at the heart of the celebration. When we speak of Chinese New Year, we speak of returning home," he said, encouraging those unable to travel back to their hometowns, especially international students, to seek warmth and ritual in the museum's cultural setting.

At the event, visitors learned about the origins and evolution of nian (year), wrote Spring Festival couplets in calligraphy, and created traditional fu (fortune) prints, a symbol of good fortune.

A student from Georgia held up his golden fu character in delight. "This is my third year in Tianjin, but my first time experiencing Chinese New Year like this," he said. He hopes to promote cultural and economic exchanges between China and Georgia in the future.

In this museum alive with tradition, young people from different backgrounds came together through culture — discovering that reunion and happiness are values shared across borders.
