Foreign Journalists Portray Tianjin as Livable City of Opportunity
A report from en.tj.gov.cn Mar. 10th, 2026:

At the open meeting of the Tianjin delegation during the fourth session of the 14th National People's Congress (NPC) on March 6, journalists from China and abroad gathered to observe and report on the city's development.
Through their lenses and stories, Tianjin emerged as a vibrant city that blends everyday charm with global openness.
"Tianjin is a city you shouldn't miss," said Erik Nilsson, an American journalist with China Daily who has worked in the country for two decades. Having first visited Tianjin 20 years ago, he has witnessed the city's transformation and looks forward to exploring it again.
Nilsson highlighted Tianjin's lively street culture and distinctive humor. He is also fascinated by the city's rich cultural experiences, from historic brands along its Ancient Cultural Street to hands-on culinary traditions like making jianbing guozi (Chinese pancake wrap). This year, he plans to visit a chocolate-themed town, believing such immersive experiences will appeal to international audiences.
For Karaman Syiagul, a journalist from Kyrgyzstan's Koom Press news agency, Tianjin represents growing international cooperation. She pointed to Tianjin Port as a key hub linking land and sea routes under the Belt and Road Initiative. She also praised the Luban Workshop vocational education programs, which have helped train skilled professionals in Kyrgyzstan, including in emerging fields such as robotics.
