Global Business Leaders Praise International Role of Tianjin

Participants at the Tianjin 2026 Global Business Leaders Roundtable on March 25 praised the city for its strategic advantage as a gateway between China and the world.

Gim Huay Neo, managing director and chair of Greater China at the World Economic Forum, said that Tianjin is not only an important gateway but also possesses highly attractive qualities, highlighting the city's strengths in talent reserves, academic and research capabilities, manufacturing supply chains, logistics systems, and its innovation ecosystem.

Zhu Lili, chairman of First Eastern Investment Group, said that Tianjin is one of the few cities with a comprehensive range of modern industries, citing the Airbus production base as an example, which has attracted a complete industrial chain to the city, positioning Tianjin as a national innovation leader.

Hussain Dawood, chairman of Pakistan's Engro Holdings, expressed interest in collaborating with Tianjin in technology and education, acknowledging the city's advanced technological capabilities.

The National Supercomputing Center of Tianjin, China's inaugural national supercomputing facility, is set to work with aerospace departments to create a Space-based Computing Center, integrating data from space equipment with ground-based laser communication links to serve the AI industry.

Song Zhengji, chief system development engineer at the China Academy of Space Technology, emphasized Tianjin's strong industrial advantages, including its manned spaceflight production base and top-tier research institutes.
