03-31-2026

A report from en.tj.gov.cn Mar. 20th, 2026:

Tianjin's foreign trade posted solid growth in the first two months of 2026, with total imports and exports reaching 130.65 billion yuan ($18.96 billion), up 9.1 percent year-on-year.

Exports stood out as a key driver, rising 26.7 percent to 74.26 billion yuan, placing Tianjin among the top three coastal regions in export growth and outperforming the national average by 7.5 percentage points.

Private enterprises continued to play a pivotal role in the city's trade expansion, with their total trade volume reaching 60.44 billion yuan, up 9.6 percent, accounting for 46.3 percent of Tianjin's overall foreign trade. This further strengthened their position as the city's largest group of trading entities.

Trade with major partners remained stable and diversified. The European Union and ASEAN retained their positions as Tianjin's top two trading partners, with trade volumes of 26.99 billion yuan and 16.47 billion yuan, respectively, both posting double-digit growth.

Trade with Africa more than doubled, surging 121.9 percent, while trade with countries related to the Shanghai Cooperation Organization maintained steady expansion.

Exports of mechanical and electrical goods, labor-intensive products, and pharmaceuticals all recorded strong growth, with lithium-ion batteries emerging as a standout category, as exports soared 108.9 percent. Exports of ships, aircraft, and automobiles also contributed notably to the city's export momentum.
