Tianjin Sees Strong May Day Holiday Spending

Tianjin recorded steady growth in tourist numbers and spending for the May Day holiday from May 1 to 5, with the number of visitors increasing by 3.7 percent year-on-year and spending up 7.1 percent. Average spending per visitor reached 911.55 yuan ($134), up 3.2 percent compared with the 2025 holiday period.

According to Trip.com, Tianjin ranked ninth among China's most popular destinations for performances and sporting events during the holiday. The city launched more than 500 cultural and tourism activities, with immersive experiences, such as the Tianjin Music Festival's staging of the Italian opera Cavalleria Rusticana and flash mob performances, becoming key attractions.
Nighttime tourism has continued to expand, with Tianjin Polar Ocean Resort reopening its night sessions and Zhangyuan offering immersive night tours.

Museums and cultural venues also introduced special exhibitions, educational programs, and interactive activities, giving visitors more opportunities to experience Tianjin's unique cultural charm.
