05-21-2026

A report from en.tj.gov.cn May 15th, 2026:

Tianjin is accelerating the development of its artificial intelligence industry, aiming to strengthen its role as a major hub for intelligent technology and digital innovation in China.

At a press conference for the 2026 World Intelligence Expo held on May 14, local officials highlighted the city's latest progress in AI technology, industrial ecosystems and practical applications.

Tianjin has built a comprehensive industrial chain for information technology covering CPUs, operating systems, databases, servers and supercomputing. Leading Chinese tech firms such as Kylin Soft, Hygon and Phytium are based in the city.

The city is also advancing large AI models in sectors such as manufacturing, healthcare, transportation and education. Companies like Baidu, 360 Security Technology and iFLYTEK have expanded their presence in Tianjin, while locally applied AI models are helping improve efficiency and industrial quality.

In robotics, Tianjin has gathered more than 100 related enterprises, ranging from surgical robot developers to industrial and quadruped robot manufacturers. Several companies now lead their industries in shipment volume and technological innovation.

Officials also said Tianjin has promoted over 1,000 successful "AI plus manufacturing" application scenarios and built 528 smart factories citywide.

Looking ahead, Tianjin plans to deepen AI innovation, expand industrial cooperation and further integrate intelligent technologies into the real economy.
