Sinopec BRICI in TEDA Selected as First Batch of Pilot Platform Nationwide
Recently, the Tianjin Base Pilot Platform for Chemical Materials of Sinopec Beijing Research Institute of Chemical Industry (BRICI) in TEDA was selected as the first batch of key pilot platforms by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), which boasts one of the 25 key pilot platforms for petrochemical industry in MIIT.
Situated in TEDA, Sinopec BRICI represents an important part of the Sinopec Nangang high-end new materials industry cluster project. Covering an area of 372,500 square meters, the project is built in two phases. The phase I, with an investment of 2.151 billion yuan, was wrapped up and started production in December 2024, featuring 13 pilot plants including polyolefin polymerization, polyolefin catalysts, and special elastomers. The first unit of Phase II, the polyolefin elastomer (POE) pilot plant, has been completed and put into use. In the future, it plans to build an ethylene technology center, a fine chemical technology center, and a postdoctoral workstation. Upon completion, the project is expected to become a world-class chemical pilot R&D platform, significantly enhancing the scientific research capabilities of TEDA and Tianjin.
