TEDA-based CanSinoBIO Wins First Prize of Tianjin Science and Technology Progress Award

Recently, the TEDA-based company CanSino Biologics Inc. has been awarded the first prize of Tianjin Science and Technology Progress Award for its proprietary project “Key Technologies and Industrialization of Polysaccharide-Protein Conjugate Vaccines.” The core breakthrough, polysaccharide-protein conjugation, ranks one of the world’s most advanced vaccine technologies. It overcomes the limitations of traditional polysaccharide vaccines, such as short-lived immune time and poor immunogenicity in infants.

Leveraging this technology, CanSinoBIO has rolled out a series of innovative vaccines, including Menhycia® Group ACYW135 Meningococcal Conjugate Vaccine (CRM197), China’s first conjugate vaccine for infants within six months, and Pneucia® 13-valent Pneumococcal Polysaccharide Conjugate Vaccine (CRM197/TT). Both products either fill critical domestic gaps or reach world-class standards, offering Chinese children safer and more effective shields against infectious diseases.

CanSinoBIO’s receipt of the prize is attributed to TEDA’s vibrant industrial ecosystem and innovation environment. As the hub of biopharmaceutical R&D and manufacturing in Tianjin and even the Bohai Rim region, TEDA has established a robust model of cluster development driven by leading companies.
