The 2026 International Forum (TEDA) on Chinese Automotive Industry Development Convened in TEDA

From September 17 to September 20, the 2026 International Forum (TEDA) on Chinese Automotive Industry Development was convened in TEDA. Wang Weiming, Chief Engineer of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), Gong Jinfeng, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and General Manager of the China Automotive Technology and Research Center (CATARC), Luo Junjie, Member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Vice President of the China Machinery Industry Federation, and Tian Jietang, Director of the Department of Industrial Economics at the Research Center of the State Council, attended the plenary session and delivered speeches. Li Wei, Member of the Party Committee and Deputy General Manager of CATARC, and Hou Fushen, Vice President and Secretary-General of the Society of Automotive Engineers of China (SAE-China), co-chaired the plenary session.

Centering on the annual theme of "Smart & Green Foundations, Ecological Momentum, Co-creation & Win-Win", this year's International Forum (TEDA) on Chinese Automotive Industry Development anchored on the strategic positioning of the 15th Five-Year Plan for the automotive industry, linked upstream and downstream resources of the global automotive industrial chain, and sparked exchange of ideas focusing on key dimensions such as mid-to-long-term policy guidance, forward-looking technology implementation, and sustainable ecological layout.

At the conference, guests from government departments and authorities, as well as senior industry experts and representatives from think tank organizations, delivered authoritative interpretations on aspects such as enhancing the automotive industry innovation, developing autonomous driving, and constructing the ecosystem for intelligent connected new energy vehicles, while offering development suggestions for improving quality and efficiency and building a new industrial ecosystem in the automotive sector. Senior executives from multiple leading complete vehicle and industrial chain enterprises deeply analyzed the direction of industrial transformation from dimensions such as technological R&D, system capability building, and global layout, sharing innovative achievements and strategic insights based on their own practices.

Successfully held over 20 editions, the International Forum (TEDA) on Chinese Automotive Industry Development continues to serve as a bellwether guiding the development of the automotive industry. Building on the experience of previous editions, this year's forum innovatively established "Four Thematic Days" and staged a "17+N" lineup of themed, content-rich conferences and concurrent events.
